High position is not the only condition to consider when you have to choose a VHF antenna
Closely linked to that consideration are the roll and pitch of the boat, that is considerably influenced by the lenght of the antenna.
To limit the effect of roll and pitch I should choose an antenna with more suitable characteristics.
Find below the guidelines for the suggested length of the antenna depending on the type of boat:
- Sailing or displacement boat max 1.5m
- Planing motor boat max 2.7m
